As you might have noticed I am in vacations in Rio de Janeiro. I was amazed to come to my hometown after 2 years and see that so many things changed, the city is being completely renovated for the Olympic Games of 2016, but the stunning nature is still there and I discovered many new spots. It’s a different point of view when you are alone then when you are with your family and kids, so I will do a few posts to let you know what are my new favourites spots in Rio de Janeiro, shops, nature, places to be… enjoy !
Beijos !!
The Best View
I went to Niterói, on the other side of the Guanabara bay to visit the Oscar Niemeyer’s masterpiece, The Museum of Contemporary Arts, one UFO building at the sea. The art collection is average and at the moment the museum is closed for renovation but it’s worth for the amazing architecture and the 360 degree view of Rio the Janeiro . SIMPLY STUNNING !!!
The basic food
“Picadinho” ( photo ) and “Picanha na Brasa”, two meat dishes are defineltly my favorite ones !!!
A classic spot to have it Braseiro Restaurant, or the recently open Paris 6, but you cane find these dishes in almost every traditional restaurant in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian food is quite heavy so it’s no surprise everybody is so into sports. Forget any diet, it’s worth to try !!!
Good Brazilian food at:
Prainha is the new Paradise
Prainha is remote beach after Barra da Tijuca, a hidden paradise with a wild beach and a fish restaurant nested on the rocks called Mirante da Prainha. We had and amazing lunch there and it’s totally kids friendly. Barra itself it’s a new coming upscale neighbourhood, lots of modern buildings and malls mixed with remaining wild nature. It’s the first beach on the Atlantic, and they will host the Olympic Village and many competitions.
